Elementary Progress Reports/Grade Reports

Elementary schools should use Student Progress Reports. Through these reports information will be provided regarding the student’s progress in the subjects, attendance, citizenship, and social relationships. Letter grades are the accepted means of reporting academic progress in the conventional school curriculum.

  • Elementary Grades PK-K will use the following grading scale:
    • I – Achieves objectives and perform skills INDEPENDENTLY
    • P – PROGRESSING toward achieving objectives and skills
    • NT – NEEDS more TIME to develop
  • Elementary Grades 1-2 will use the following grading scale:
    • E – Excellent
    • S – Satisfactory
    • N – Needs Improvement
  • Grades 3-8 will use the five letter grades – A, B, C, D, and F. Pass(P) or Fail(F) may be used for non core subjects. Core Subjects are Bible, Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science.

Secondary Grade Reports (Including Junior Academy)

Letter grades – A, B, C, D, F, and I(Incomplete) normally will be used in Grades 9-12.

Grade-point Average System (Grading Scale)

The four-point system is used to determine the grade-point average. Pluses and minuses may be used.

Timely Reporting of Grades

Student Progress reports must be distributed within five school days after the close of each nine-week period.

Eighth Grade Completion Requirements

Students may complete the requirements in one of the following ways:

  • Diploma
    • The student has demonstrated competence in the core subjects 
      • Bible/Religion
      • Language Arts
      • Mathematics
      • Science/Health
      • Social Studies

 

  • Plan
    • The student has met the goals of his/her plan. 
      • Modified Accommodation Plan (MAP)
      • Individualized Education Program (IEP)

 

  • Attendance
    • The student has met attendance requirements.

Graduation Honors

The conference board of education has the discretion to establish a policy regarding whether or not a valedictorian and salutatorian of a graduating class may be designated.

If academic honors are recognized, they must follow the classification below:

  • Highest Honor
    • 3.90-4.00
  • High Honors
    • 3.75-3.89
  • Honors
    • 3.50-3.74

These cumulative averages are calculated using the grade-point scale found above.

Additional Internal Recognition is also made as follows:

  • Honorable Mention*
    • 3.25-3.49

*Honorable Mention is NOT part of the code book. It is a local recognition that is used within Northeastern Conference.
